Why Costco asks: Refrigerants (R-134a, R-22, HFCs) have Global Warming Potential 1,000–9,000x CO2. A small leak can be the biggest emission source on a dairy farm or food facility.
Have you measured your Scope 1, 2, or 3 emissions? No right or wrong answer — this tells us where you are starting from.
Why Costco asks: SB 253 requires Costco to disclose Scope 3 by August 2027. Your emissions become their Scope 3. Without your data, they estimate — and estimates are always higher.
