Know where every supplier stands, before you have to ask them.
New rules make retailers answer for the claims their suppliers print.
- SB 253 in California and the EU Green Claims Directive both push the question onto you
- We read every supplier’s public record independently
- You see where each one stands before you send them a form
- You never start from a blank page
Scores are drawn from public disclosures, certification records, and GreenSpecs shelf-scan data.
The six areas your buyers ask about.
A buyer asks a supplier about eleven things, and they fall into these six areas — the shape behind a supplier standard like Costco's. We read each area independently, for any supplier in your portfolio.
- Supply chain. Tier 1–3 disclosure analysis. Two of the eleven questions sit here.
- Labor. Certification cross-reference — SA8000, FLO, Rainforest Alliance. Named where absent.
- Animal welfare. Third-party check — Global Animal Partnership, Certified Humane. Reads as not applicable where a company handles no animal products.
- Environment. Water draw and land use, with the source for each figure.
- Packaging. Material-claims audit — shelf scan cross-checked against disclosure.
- Emissions. Scope 1, 2 and 3 coverage, plus any published reduction target. Five of the eleven questions sit here.
- An independent answer to each question, for any supplier you name
- No form to send them, no report to wait on
- Where a supplier has disclosed nothing, we say so rather than leave a blank
Where a category has room for a stronger own-brand.
We compare every company we read against the leaders in its category.
- Sometimes the strongest national brand in a category still cannot answer much
- That is room for an own-brand with real certifications and supplier data behind it
- We show you where that room is
- Clif Bar48
- KIND39
- RXBAR14
EXAMPLE FIGURES · GreenSpecs scan data already shows which claims shoppers are pushing back on in this category. We combine both signals for you.

We don't take payment from the companies we score.
We work from public data, certification records, supplier disclosures and GreenSpecs shelf scans.
Nobody pays us to be read favorably. That independence is the whole point, and the method is public.
Built on the GreenSpecs scan dataset — 2,400+ scans across 24 brands in food, beverage, dairy, apparel, and snacks. Method at yko.earth/methodology.
